Before and after the judgment

Frequently asked questions

How much does an amicable divorce cost in Switzerland?

Court fees range from about CHF 400 to 3,000 depending on the canton and your income (CHF 900 in the canton of Vaud, an advance of CHF 600 in Geneva). Our fees come on top: from CHF 690 for a complete file.

How long does an amicable divorce take?

Usually 3 to 6 months between filing the joint application and the final judgment. In Geneva, over 90% of joint applications are decided in less than 6 months.

Do you need a lawyer to divorce in Switzerland?

No. Spouses can file their joint application themselves. A lawyer is useful if you do not agree on everything: we then refer you to our partner lawyer.

Can we divorce in Switzerland if we married abroad?

Yes, if one of the spouses lives in Switzerland. The court will ask for the foreign marriage certificate, often apostilled and translated: that is exactly what we prepare.

Are you lawyers?

No. ABC Office is an administrative and translation service. We prepare your file; you file it yourselves. A review by our partner lawyer is available as an option.
